Griff recalls finding Plue stranded on Griffon Island a year prior, where the creature was being harassed by dolphins. After rescuing the hungry Plue and introducing him to his crew members Mikan, Isa, and Teppei, Griff offered a lollipop. The Pudding Heads subsequently invaded the island, attacking with pudding bombs and mousse cannons. Plue demonstrated bravery by halting the pirate ship with his strength, causing it to explode when the engines were maxed out. Plue escaped in a lifeboat that began to sink. While underwater, he spotted bait resembling the lollipop he had eaten. Upon taking the bait, Plue met Haru, marking the start of their journey together.
