Kaiji survives the previous events and rescues a man named Ishida, but this victory comes with a heavy price: a new debt of ¥6,295,000, which is approximately $61,400. For the next four months, Kaiji lives in poverty while working at a convenience store to manage his financial struggles. His difficult circumstances shift dramatically when Endou reappears before him. Endou offers Kaiji another opportunity to attempt to clear his massive debt, presenting a new chance to escape his current situation despite the overwhelming odds against him.
