Iris's subsequent attempts to revise her account draw attention to how the body crossed the flaming bridge. Phoenix interprets Larry's sketch as an inverted view of Elise being swung beneath the structure. He deduces that the current Iris is actually the spirit of Dahlia, who had swapped places with the real Iris during the previous day's earthquake.
