Ep. 63: Father is defeated by Edward, who sacrifices his alchemy to resurrect Alphonse in his original body.

Father attempts to absorb Greed’s philosopher’s stone but is defeated when Greed sheds Ling’s body and carbonizes him. Edward pierces Father’s chest, releasing the trapped souls of Xerxes and banishing him to the Gate of Truth for eternity. Following this victory, the group mourns Alphonse’s death. Hohenheim offers his life to restore Alphonse, but Edward refuses, choosing instead to undergo human transmutation on himself. This act costs Edward his gate and alchemical abilities. As a result of this sacrifice, he is permitted to retrieve Alphonse in his original physical form. While the survivors recover, Hohenheim returns to Resembool and passes away peacefully at Trisha’s grave.
