During the Watanagashi festival, Keiichi learns from Tomitake and Takano about Oyashiro's curse, which allegedly caused four years of murders. The next day, police detective Oishi informs Keiichi that Tomitake committed suicide and Takano is missing. Keiichi becomes Oishi's informant and suspects Rena and Mion of hiding secrets. He investigates the curse's history with Oishi, discovering that one victim was Satoshi, a boy who transferred out before Keiichi arrived. Keiichi realizes Rena has been eavesdropping on him throughout this investigation.
