A construction manager was killed and dismembered by workers after he interrupted their drinking. Takano and Dr. Irie studied Hinamizawa Syndrome at an institute, requiring a live specimen to link a parasite to the illness. They used a psychotic construction worker involved in the murder for this purpose. Satoshi also discussed with Dr. Irie keeping Satoko at the clinic longer to reduce household conflict. Hanyuu felt helpless during these events. Years later, Hanyuu and Rika eagerly awaited the arrival of the person destined to end the enemy's plans.
