Seeking to stop choking during important matches, Isumi travels to China to study the game of Go. Meanwhile, Waya attempts unsuccessfully to persuade Hikaru to return to playing. After Isumi suffers defeats against several children, he is recruited by a skilled player at a Chinese Go institute. He undergoes training for a few days to enhance his abilities, though he feels sympathy for himself upon realizing how the institute’s standards compare favorably to those of professional players.
