Ep. 22: Gon and friends face a heavy testing gate guarded by a watchdog to reach Killua.

Upon reaching the Republic of Podokea, Gon, Leorio, and Kurapika board a bus for Kukuroo Mountain to visit Killua. Their path is blocked by a massive Testing Gate guarded by a watchdog named Mike, who eats anyone attempting to use the side entrance. The group speaks with Zebro, the elderly gatekeeper, claiming friendship with Killua. Kurapika notices the front gate is unlocked while Leorio fails to move it. Zebro reveals each door weighs two tons, requiring immense strength to open. The group learns Killua previously opened three levels totaling sixteen tons. After a confrontation with the family butler and an attempt to scale the gate with a fishing pole, Gon’s determination convinces Zebro to open the gate and escort them past Mike.
