Honda Booksellers faces severe financial difficulties under the management of owner Honda Fumio, who is socially adept but commercially inept. Although bankruptcy and a nocturnal disappearance seem plausible for the owner, the situation takes an unexpected turn when Kazuhito visits the store. Carrying his favorite bag, Kazuhito is intercepted by Honda Yayoi, who is fleeing her home. She captures him and drags him into her escape plan, leaving Kazuhito entangled in her sudden departure from the family business and residence.
