Upon reaching Zircon Tower City, the group meets Horn, a child who guides them through a dungeon linked to Diablo. A mother pleads for healing for her child suffering from Death Knell, but a priest refuses due to her poverty. After Diablo subdues the violent priest, Lumachina cures the child. A sand whale attacks, prompting Diablo, Batutta, and city leader Fanis Laminitus to repel it. Fanis reveals the church is heavily taxed, explaining their desperation, and denies God's existence after shooting at Lumachina. Disturbed by the widespread disease and financial barriers to healing, Lumachina listens as Batutta advocates for pragmatism. The group is hosted at Batutta's mansion, where Diablo and Shera bathe while Batutta and his maid discuss matters with Rem and Lumachina.
