During a stopover on the way to Egypt, Polnareff is attacked by the Hanged Man, a Stand with two right hands that is only visible in reflections. Recognizing that this Stand belongs to the user who killed his younger sister, Polnareff separates from the group to pursue revenge. He is lured into a trap by J. Geil, the Stand's user, and his partner Hol Horse. When other party members arrive to assist Polnareff, Hol Horse uses his Stand, the Emperor, to kill Avdol. This encounter marks a significant turning point as Polnareff's personal vendetta leads to a deadly confrontation with his enemies.
