While cycling to school, Koichi Hirose strikes a bag on the road, discovering a cat inside. Overwhelmed by the accident, he is confronted by Tamami Kobayashi, who demands money for the cat's burial despite the incident being unintentional. Tamami insists Koichi cannot simply leave, intensifying Koichi's guilt as he struggles to process the situation. The emotional weight of the event triggers a bizarre physical reaction, causing a giant lock to emerge from Koichi's chest. This sequence marks the beginning of Koichi's involvement in the supernatural events surrounding Yomiyama North School, setting the stage for the curse that affects the class of 1998.
