Following Otohiko's test, Nanami uses a shogi match to choose between Tomoe and Mizuki for the Divine Assembly. While she buys tickets, Mamoru defeats four mocking former gods who injured Kirihito, an Akura-Ou yokai in human form. Nanami selects Mizuki, leaving Tomoe to impersonate her at school. Upon reaching Izumo, the pair separates. Mizuki accompanies the late Otohiko, while Nanami faces hostility from other gods for her humanity. Encouraged by a disembodied figure, possibly Mikage, who highlights her unique perspective, Nanami gains the confidence to enter the Divine Assembly chambers.
