Ryoma Takebayashi is an 11-year-old boy living in the forest with over 1000 magical slime familiars. He invites noble Reinhart Jamil and his soldiers to his home, where mage Camil detects Ryoma's high resistance to mental and physical pain. Ryoma claims he learned magic from deceased grandparents, though he feels guilty for lying. In truth, he was a Japanese salaryman who died three years prior. In the afterlife, gods Gain, Lulutia, and Kufo reincarnated him to bridge his magic-rich Earth with their world. Arriving as an 8-year-old, he spent three years learning about slimes before meeting Reinhart. Two weeks later, Reinhart returns with more people, including his daughter Eliaria.
