Ep. 1: Nishikata and Takagi exchange notes, test hypnosis, and skip stones by the river.

In class, Nishikata cannot find his English textbook and is forced to sit next to Takagi, leading to a secret note exchange that flusters him. Later, he attempts to hypnotize her with a coin he made, but she reveals she was only pretending after he asks her to pick her nose. Meanwhile, Mina remains hypnotized after watching a show, leaving her friends Yukari and Sanae concerned. At the river, Nishikata and Takagi plan a stone skipping contest. Takagi claims a high record to distract him, but her actual best is only three skips. When Nishikata nearly falls into the water while searching for a stone, he grabs Takagi’s hand to save her, causing him to fall instead. He denies holding hands, but wonders about it afterward.
