Freyja and Hayate arrive on planet Ragna, where Freyja initially faces rejection before gaining special permission for an audition. Hayate is recruited by the Delta Squadron due to his combat prowess, eventually agreeing despite his aversion to fighting and orders, driven by a desire to fly again. Freyja is declared to have failed her audition and boards a train back to the city. During the ride, a passenger contracts the Vars infection. Freyja uses her song to calm the individual, revealing that the entire scenario was a ruse orchestrated by Walküre as her final test. Having successfully passed this evaluation, Freyja is officially inducted as a member of the group.
