Koganei falls into depression after losing a special bell keepsake that once rang, causing it to stop working. He explains to Mai that the bell was a cherished memento from his first love, Taeko, whom he met one year as a child. The ringing sound reminded him of their brief time together. During a children's audition, Koganei spots a little girl who looks exactly like Taeko and realizes she is her daughter. Lacking the courage to speak to Taeko after so much time has passed, Mai steps in to explain the situation. Since Taeko does not remember him, Mai, appearing as Emi, modifies her performance to evoke memories of the childhood moments Koganei and Taeko shared, hoping to bridge the gap between them.
