Ep. 1: Otonashi Kyoko Appears and Godai Fails His Exam After Falling in Love

Yuusaku Godai lives in the Maison Ikkoku apartment building alongside Akemi Roppongi, Yotsuya, Hanae Ichinose, and Kentarou Ichinose. Fed up with his strange and difficult housemates, he prepares to move out. However, he encounters the new manager, Kyoko Otonashi, and immediately falls in love with her. His efforts to balance studying for his upcoming exam with trying to impress Kyoko prove unsuccessful. Consequently, he fails the eligibility practical exam. This sequence of events highlights the disruption caused by his new romantic interest, which interferes with his academic goals and his original plan to leave the residence.
