In a quiet neighborhood in Japan, stands Maison Ikkoku, a weary apartment. Yuusaku Godai, one of the residents there, has had enough of his weird and horrible housemates—Akemi Roppongi, Yotsuya, Hanae Ichinose and her son Kentarou Ichinose. As he finally decides to pack his bag and move out, he meets Ikkoku's new manager, Kyoko Otonashi, and instantly falls in love with her.
