On the eve of the 3rd Battle, Ginta encounters a man named Tom, who is being pursued by the Chess Pieces. Tom begs for Ginta's assistance, but the hunter, revealed to be Peta, outmaneuvers them both and kills Tom in front of the boy. This event marks Phantom's return from his staged death, leaving him triumphant. The murder of someone Ginta had promised to protect fuels his anger, ensuring he will fight the Chess with full force in the future.
