Nanbu escorts Joe to the arena for his semifinal bout against Glen Burroughs, instructing him to lose in the third round to settle a debt. Joe enters the ring wearing his old Gear, while Sachio initially stays away, believing the match is rigged. As Joe is beaten down, Sachio urges him not to quit. Joe rises and knocks out Burroughs with a counterpunch. In the luxury suite, Nanbu fights Fujimaki's men and stabs out his own remaining eye as payment. Fujimaki, impressed by the display, allows Nanbu, Joe, and Sachio to leave. The trio reunites after the victory, having escaped Fujimaki's control through Nanbu's drastic sacrifice and Joe's unexpected win.
