While Serena is away, Rachel attends a French cooking class with Conan and Richard. They meet students Katherine Sinclair, Becca Kinsey, Coral Laraway, and Percy Nicholson, along with teacher Misty Laraway. During a blackout, an unseen figure attacks Misty. Upon power restoration, the group finds the circuit breaker tripped by ice and a weight. Misty collapses in the kitchen, claiming breathing difficulties, and Conan discovers a puncture wound in her back. Police determine the attacker was an insider. Doctors identify the weapon as a sewing needle, but no such item is found among personal belongings. Inspector Meguire receives a call from the hospital confirming Misty’s death, transforming the incident into a murder investigation.
