Kogoro is hired by Reiko Mutsu, a woman rumored to be the first female prime minister, to discuss a matter, with Ran and Conan accompanying him. Upon arrival, they are greeted by her secretary, Shinji Inui. After hearing a scream from Reiko, the group investigates and spots a mysterious man holding a knife fleeing the scene. Conan and Kogoro pursue him, but the suspect escapes into the room of Taro, Reiko’s husband. In a surprising turn, Taro manages to defend himself against the intruder, resulting in the man's death.
