Sonoko falls asleep in a vehicle driven by Tadahiko, prompting Conan and Ran to save her from a cliff. They encounter Terabayashi, a detective investigating serial murders, in the woods. The group splits up, but Tadahiko reveals himself as the killer after Sonoko bites his leg. He admits to murdering four brown-haired women following a breakup. Tadahiko attempted to kill Sonoko by placing ice under the car wheel to roll it off a cliff. He believed Sonoko photographed his latest victim near railroad tracks. Makoto intervenes, defeating Tadahiko, who is arrested. Ran recalls his reputation as The Prince of Attack from a karate competition.
