Yukiko takes Conan, Ai, and the Detective Boys to a Kamen Yaiba movie preview, which is delayed until later that night. Because she must catch a flight to America, she entrusts the children to Akira Hojima, an employee of the film. Before departing, Yukiko warns Conan about a black car following them. Akira brings the group to his nearby apartments and invites other staff members to play Mahjong. Later, a scream wakes everyone to discover salesman Furumura Norihiro murdered by a knife in a dark, messy room. Conan investigates how the killing occurred silently in total darkness without detection.
