Kogoro accepts a ¥10 million commission from Mikio Fujieda to identify an assassin, but squanders ¥8 million without success. Ran contacts her mother, Eri Kisaki, for assistance, leading Conan, Ran, and Eri to the Fujieda mansion. There, they encounter Yukiko, who is investigating on behalf of her husband Yusaku. The two women recall a high school pageant that ended in a tie because one participant failed to submit their ballet entry. Ran discovers that Kogoro possesses an unsubmitted ballet from that contest, which captures the attention of the investigators. The episode concludes with security footage capturing Fujieda being shot.
