Ep. 368: Murder at the Candy House: The Witch's Deceptive Sweet Shop

Sonoko escorts Conan and Ran to a themed confectionery run by Maeda Gou, Fujino Yasuo, and Morimoto Tomomi under the stern boss Sachiko Hashigaki. After Sachiko is found bludgeoned to death without a visible weapon, Conan investigates the suspects. He discovers wood shavings at the scene and deduces that a real log served as the murder weapon. The only employee skilled in crafting log-shaped cakes is Fujino Yasuo, who had baked the weapon into a cake at his station. Fujino confesses to the crime, explaining that Sachiko broke her promise to let him start his own company after a baking competition. Motivated by broken promises, workplace abuse, and the loss of his popularity-driven clientele, Fujino killed her, mirroring the witch from the Hansel and Gretel story that inspired the shop's theme.
