Conan logically pressures Masaharu, suspected of killing his friend Toshizo Nose, while leaving clues for Kogoro. Kogoro deduces that Masaharu created an alibi by taking two flights: Miyazaki to Tokyo, then Tokyo to Okinawa, where he stabbed Toshizo. He returned to the airport to appear as if he had arrived directly. Masaharu stole Ran’s tennis ball container to destroy evidence and hid the murder weapon in his trunk. He confesses that Toshizo deceived him about a bad habit affecting his pitching to remove him as a rival. Kogoro explains that the murder only resulted in a prison sentence for Masaharu.
