Conan, Heiji, Ran, and Kazuha attend Dogo Hoshikawa's magic show, where a water cube escape goes awry, leading Ran and Kazuha to intervene. Dogo reveals the stunt was planned, and the group later meets Tenko Himemiya, Riki Handa, and Mari Masakage at a party. They learn Dogo, Riki, and Tenko were pupils of the legendary Mr. Masakage, who vanished 10 years ago, leaving behind an archive in a creepy hallway. Tenko announces her "Burning of the Witch" trick, involving being tied to a cross and rising from ashes. After she leaves to prepare for dinner, she fails to return. Ran, Kazuha, and Dogo search for her using the dark hallway, where a blackout occurs. When lights return, Tenko's bloody corpse is found at the end of the hall.
