Conan and Heiji examine the destroyed archive room, concluding the killer sought Mr. Masakage's secret magic trick information but was caught by Tenko. Evidence including footprints and broken twigs reveals the escape route, though no suspect has a motive. During the investigation, Heiji expresses unexplained anger at seeing Kazuha with another man, prompting Conan to call him childish. Flashbacks reveal Mr. Masakage once spared a thief stealing his tricks but did not name them. The mystery is solved when Kazuha notes that only the vase's shadow changed when the lights returned, allowing the detectives to reconstruct the murder method.
