The FBI identifies the remains as Akai. Jodie visits the police station to confirm the death, providing Conan's cellphone which bears Akai's fingerprint for comparison. The police verify the match and confiscate the phone as evidence. Jodie secretly replaces Conan's device with an identical model, but Conan notices the serial number change and deduces that Akai has died.
