Rachel’s forgotten souvenir prompts Conan to deduce the truth, tranquilizing Richard to expose the killer. Dr. Delaney disguised himself to make a fake urgent call, delaying David’s train to poison him and stage a robbery. The coins in David’s possession bear the clerk’s fingerprints, proving the method. Dr. Delaney confesses the rumors were true and is arrested.
