Ep. 71: Quinly Peartree murders stalker Cary Mantle with poisoned soda during investigation
Aired on August 11, 1997Filler

71
Cary Mantle dies after drinking poisoned Guts-man Soda in front of Richard, Rachel, and Conan. The victim was stalking Quinly Peartree, whom the group interviews. Conan observes white flakes on Quinly’s hands, later explained by glue used to avoid fingerprints. He reveals Quinly killed Cary, noting the poisoned bottle belonged to a past competition while her paid drink remained in the vending machine. Quinly admits to the act, citing fear after Cary pushed her down stairs and planned to kill her, as shown by weapons in his bag. Despite his malicious intent, her actions constitute premeditated murder, and the court will view the bag as circumstantial evidence against her.
