Conan, Sonoko, Ran, and two companions travel to a recording studio to record songs. There, they encounter members of a girl's band who are arguing about an upcoming performance. The drummer is subsequently found strangled within the studio. Three band members become suspects in the homicide, but the police investigation stalls when the murder weapon, a string, cannot be located.
