While walking home in the rain, Kogoro and Conan discover a car accident where Toshiaki Kikuchi lies unconscious in the driver's seat. The victim, Naohiro Tsutsumi, is deceased and positioned in front of the vehicle. Upon regaining consciousness, Kikuchi is shocked to recognize Tsutsumi as a former coworker. He claims that a man holding an umbrella suddenly entered the intersection, preventing him from stopping in time. Investigators locate Tsutsumi's will inside his jacket pocket during the examination of the scene.
