Due to a lapse in vigilance, Maya and Willie find themselves immediately endangered by a hornet intent on killing them. This encounter marks the first time Maya experiences genuine terror. Just as the situation appears hopeless, Max the earth-worm intervenes to save them. However, the rescue comes at a severe cost, as Max is stung by the hornet during the process. His injuries are critical, leaving his condition highly alarming and uncertain despite the timely assistance provided by the worm.
