Yamato organizes a simulation to evaluate his team's coordination, assigning Naruto to work with Sai despite the latter's reluctance. Sakura is tasked with supporting Yamato, who assumes the role of a spy during the exercise. The test aims to measure the capabilities and synergy between Naruto and Sai. When Naruto commits an error, Sai restrains him and proceeds independently. This action frustrates Naruto, who criticizes Sai for failing to act like a true comrade. Nevertheless, Naruto commits to cooperating with Sai to retrieve Sasuke. Subsequently, Sai discloses to Sakura that he lacks emotions and a deep understanding of them, a condition resulting from his training within ANBU Root.
