The rat clan leader kidnaps the girls and summons Rikuo to his lair, demanding he abdicate his status as presumptive heir. On his return journey, Rikuo encounters Ryota Neko, head of the cat clan, who is fleeing from rat clan minions. After arriving home, Rikuo writes the required letter while Ryota Neko sleeps. When Ryota Neko learns of Rikuo’s intended resignation, he departs to fight despite severe injuries. Witnessing this determination, Rikuo is moved, causing his night form to take over.
