Okaboshi contacts Yamaoka regarding his brother Ryozo, a Gourmet Club chef who loves Suzuko. After her failed engagement and suicide attempt, Suzuko refuses all food, even from Kaibara. Yamaoka and Kurita travel to Izu, where Suzuko grew up, to gather local ingredients like brassy chub fish and haba nori. Ryozo grills the pressed seaweed, and its aroma evokes the sea breeze, restoring Suzuko’s desire to live. Following this recovery, Suzuko visits Izu with Ryozo. This narrative focuses on the emotional impact of familiar scents and the supportive efforts of friends to aid in healing from romantic trauma and depression through culinary connection.
