The Touzai News Culture Department Flower Trio follows Yamaoka to a restaurant, expecting a romantic encounter, but instead witness him meeting Inspector Nakamatsu. The establishment, run by Naotaro Moriguchi, serves gori chitoseni, a dish made from fish native to the Sai and Asano Rivers in the Kanazawa Region. Kuniko arrives from Ryotei Maedaya, requesting Naotaro's return due to an accident involving the owner. During dinner, she reveals that Naotaro once planned to marry the owner's daughter, but she wed Seiji, a junior colleague who now runs the business. With Seiji hospitalized, no one knows how to prepare the Kinchakai. Yamaoka persuades Naotaro to assist with the event, which ultimately helps rekindle his romance with Kuniko.
