Takeo hosts a surprise birthday outing for Makoto and Rinko, covering the costs. At his workplace, they encounter Hayato Oda, a university acquaintance of Ai who is visiting to see the man she rejected. Hayato stays for the weekend. When Rinko declines an amusement park trip due to a rumor that it causes couples to break up, Ai and Hayato convince her to join as part of a group outing. That night, Hayato stays at Takeo’s home and shares the story of how he fell in love with Ai. The following morning, Hayato reveals his plan to separate Takeo and Rinko so he can confess his feelings to Ai.
