Nicol agrees to an arranged marriage meeting to move on from Catarina. At the Magic Academy, Fray Randall speaks with Ginger Tucker, who acts tsundere toward Catarina. Nicol spends days meeting candidates. He meets Fray, who admits she lacks interest in engagement. During a walk, Fray reveals her desire to work at the Department of Magic due to admiration for Larna. She advises Nicol to be honest about Catarina, noting she has not reciprocated Geordo's feelings despite their engagement, similar to advice from Raphael. Nicol shares this with Ginger. Sophia later scolds Nicol, revealing their mother was once engaged to another man before marrying his father.
