Ep. 3: Amane's mother visits and Mahiru receives a cake reward for exam success.

Shihoko unexpectedly visits Amane and assumes he is dating Mahiru after finding her asleep in his room. Mahiru reveals her parents never used her first name, so she and Amane agree to use them privately. He gives her a spare key, and after she wins first place on exams, he buys a cake as a reward, an experience she never had with her parents. They feed each other the cake but find it embarrassing. Amane attempts to cook but fails, which Mahiru enjoys. Itsuki and Chitose invite themselves to a Christmas Eve party at his apartment. Mahiru hides in her own unit but asks to play video games with Amane on Christmas Day. When snow falls, Chitose and Itsuki see Mahiru on her balcony from theirs, realizing she is his neighbor.
