Jing, Kir, and Vermouth sail to the deserted city of Reviva, inhabited solely by its king who guards the water of eternal life. The monarch congratulates Jing as "The Minstrel" and proposes he become the new ruler. During a confrontation with Leviathon, a giant fish the king has hunted for ages, Vermouth is injured but surprisingly repaired by the king, revealing she was constructed to find a successor. The group then battles a scholar and his robotic lackey. The scholar and his modified servant are trapped in a perpetual motion machine. Jing ultimately discards the water of eternal life, asserting that a brief moment of brilliance is superior to an eternity of dull existence.
