Go receives his first trial mission from Project Mew, choosing to gather Ulgamoth's golden scales. He and Satoshi explore an old mine shaft, where Go catches a Dangoro and a Nutrey. They encounter a man who reveals himself as a Pokémon hunter attempting to steal Melarva eggs, but Satoshi retrieves them. A fire breaks out, and a shiny Melarva that evolves into Ulgamoth uses Fire Spin to manage the flames. The Ulgamoth sheds golden scales, which Go collects. As they exit, the hunter and his henchmen confront the boys, demanding their Pokémon. Asahi and Tsurugi arrive and defeat the poachers using their Wulaosu. After scanning the golden scales, Go officially clears his first trial mission and earns a token.
