Following the acquisition of the Quake Badge, Ash and his companions plan their next destination as Mistralton City. During their journey, Ash discovers that Pikachu has become sick. Investigation reveals that a Joltik is draining electrical energy from Pikachu, Iris' Emolga, and Cilan's Stunfisk, all of which possess electric-type attributes. The group eventually uncovers the true cause of this unusual phenomenon, identifying Team Rocket as the responsible party behind the attacks on the Pokémon.
