Irma attempts to exploit Risty’s flashback-induced hesitation but fails her killing blow and is defeated, later retrieved by Echidna. Elina challenges Tomoe’s righteousness, misinterpreting Tomoe’s bond with Leina as a romantic relationship, which provokes a frenzied attack that Tomoe survives. Meanwhile, Ymir considers enhancing Leina’s sword, and the next match is scheduled between Nanael and Airi in the Palace of Grief. Tomoe discovers a note from Shizuka at a graveyard, where Shizuka confesses she never left the Kouma Ninja and posed as a friend to lower Tomoe’s guard. Tomoe kills Shizuka, who claims that eliminating her best friend has strengthened Tomoe by removing emotional hindrances to her warrior resolve.
