Famous Japanese author Nenene Sumiregawa visits Hong Kong for a book signing, where she meets Michelle and Maggie, two of the Paper Sisters hired as local guides. After Nenene's hotel suite is bombed, the sisters offer protection, leading her to stay at their apartment and meet Anita, the third sister. The next day, a jealous rival attempts to take Nenene hostage during her signing, but the Paper Sisters intervene to stop him. Although Nenene hopes to find a connection to her missing friend Yomiko Readman, who has been gone for four years, she learns there is none. Later, another rival attacks Nenene while she is traveling home to Japan, prompting the Paper Sisters to follow and rescue her from the assailant.
