Elsa’s relentless assault forces Frederica into a desperate defensive position. Garfiel arrives to aid her, wielding a silver shield on each arm, but their emotional reunion is interrupted when Elsa’s knife violently strikes his defense. Elsewhere, Subaru journeys to the forbidden library to find Beatrice. Upon his arrival, she expresses surprise at his presence. Subaru informs her that he intends to release her from the library, ending the 400-year contract that has effectively functioned as a curse throughout her long confinement.
