Lafiel is distressed by the order to withdraw from combat, as she is unaccustomed to defeat or surrender. Her unit commander reprimands her for challenging the chain of command. Fleet Commander Dusanyu subsequently arrives in the Aptic Region to check on Lafiel and Jinto. Meanwhile, the Basroil engages enemy assault vessels in battle. The ship initially succeeds in destroying several enemy targets. However, the Basroil soon becomes the target of enemy fire. The narrative questions whether the crew and vessel will survive the ensuing attack. This sequence highlights the tension between Lafiel’s personal pride and military discipline, alongside the immediate dangers faced by the Basroil’s crew during the engagement.
